Manage the traffic better and give pedestrians higher priority

Haven Green's location opposite Ealing Broadway station means that it is the most intensively area of open space in the Borough. Inevitably conflicts arise between different users – vehicles on the one-way system, passengers streaming into the station, buses laying over on the diagonal, taxis, kiss and ride passengers, cyclists and those walking across the green on foot.

We need to manage all these different road users carefully, most importantly be ensuring the interests of pedestrians are well represented.

FoHG wants to work with Ealing authorities to prepare a ‘traffic and movement’ plan for Haven Green which will put a high priority on pedestrian comfort, convenience and safety.

A high priority is to reduce the impact of traffic on the diagonal road that crosses the Green.  We want to reduce the number of buses that park here - especially those that block the footpath endangering pedestrians trying to cross the road.

New methods of traffic management being introduced in London involving shared space offer a useful model for what could be achieved.
